Record Breaker

Aimee Gruar enjoys turning ‘past their use by date’ items into pieces of art that can once again be enjoyed and her work sells successfully in some of New Zealand’s top Art and Design shops. A keen gardener and enjoyer of wildlife, Aimee has a special fondness for birds, in particular the now extinct Huia.

Using the ‘endangered’ vinyl LP record, Aimee has cut out images of this intriguing bird which now adorn many walls as works of art. In addition to the Huia, Aimee’s range of records includes, trees, the profile of a woman’s head, feathers and heat moulded bowls.
